Game of Thrones: The Best Behind the Scene Videos

Spoilers ahead!

I love watching behind the scene videos because it makes me realize all the work that has been put into whatever I’ve just watched. When a film, a TV series or whatever it is that I’m watching is really good and well made it makes me forget about all the work behind it and I just completely lose myself in the story will I’m watching. Afterwards, when I take time to look at the behind the scenes, it makes me love it even more because I can hear all those passionate people explaining how all the magic was created.

This week, the ending of the remarkable HBO series: Game of Thrones saddened a lot of people. Although endings of TV shows are always hard, GOT gave us one hell of a ride. After 8 seasons, 71 episodes and 8 years of keeping viewers on the edge of their seats, fans have now no other option but to make peace with they way the show ended.

After watching Bran become the ruler of the 6 kingdoms and protector of the realm, Sansa becoming the Queen of the North, Aria leaving port to explore the world, and John return to the land of bastards and criminals, I’ve decided to explore the Internet in search of the best behind the scene videos I could find on Game of Thrones, just to keep these characters alive for a few more days.

Here are the best videos on how game of thrones was made that I could find:

The Battle of the Bastards

What’s so special about this fight is the fact that there is lots of it that isn’t CGI. One thing I never thought about is all the horses in this fight that need prior training. I never realized that on the set of Game of Thrones, there are people to whom their job is to train horses and create a realistic setting for these big animals.

Game of Thrones without Special Effects

This video is interesting to watch because it shows us images of what Game of Thrones would look like without special effects. You get to see what the set actually looks like and what the actors have to play with.

The “A Story of” HBO video series

The HBO Game of Thrones YouTube channel has a lot of interesting content. They made a series of video that I think are particularly interesting because of their short length and because of their thematics. The series is called: A story of. Here are four of these videos.

A Story of Visual effects

A Story in Camera Work

A Story of stunts

A Story in Prosthetics

Game revealed: The Long Night

This episode was filmed over many cold nights. The whole process of how they created trenches and how they lit them on fire is captivating. Also, have you ever wondered how Kit Harrington reacted when he learned that he wasn’t going to be the hero who kills the night king? Watch this video to find out.

The Frozen Lake

That scene is particularly fascinating because of its setting. The frozen lake scene was filmed in Iceland. The actors react to how beautiful the place is and the crew worries that the place is too beautiful for the audience to believe it’s actually real.

Also, this fight was so intense and scary and it’s interesting to know how the actors were directed in a way to purposefully lead the audience into thinking one of them was going to die.

Dragonpit meeting

This scene reunites characters that have not seen each other for a long time as well as cast members that have not played together before. It’s interesting to hear what each actor has to say about their role and those encounters on set.

The Loot Train Attack

This fight is the first one where Daenerys is unleashed in Westoros and where she shows what she’s capable of. This is the first battle where the audience really sees the extent to which the Targaryan queen is ready to go to sit on the iron throne.

This video is interesting to watch because we get to hear about every characters point of view? How they’re feeling during the attack, about the attack. Why their character is acting in a certain way?… etc.

Continuity is also a big issue while filming this fight, which is something that the audience often forgets about.

Game revealed: The bells

I find the behind the scenes of this episode interesting to watch since it’s a really important one. This is the episode when Daenerys burns down king’s Landing.

This video brings the topic of having to find solutions to hide the set from fans trying to get sneak peeks with drones and all sorts of technologies especially since this king’s landing set was built in the parking lot of the Paint Hall studio.

18 Hours at the Paint Hall

The title of this video is pretty self explanatory has to why it’s so interesting to watch. Basically, the audience is taken into a tour of the Paint Hall studio in Belfast during an 18 hours working day. We get to see what a day looks like for the crew and the cast of Game of Thrones while filming at the Paint Hall.

Farewell to Game of Thrones

These videos are quite funny but they are also very emotional. Listening to every fun facts that each actors or crew members have to say about the series is undeniably moving.

I hope you guys enjoy watching behind the scenes videos just as much as I do. Hopefully you learned a few things from watching these captivating videos.
